Pair of Early to Mid-18th Century George II Marble Top Eagle Console Tables in Manner of William Kent Well carved eagles clutching rocks. Wings spread. Top frieze in Neoclassical Running Dog Motif. Early if not original orange marble with white border. Photos to show remnants of early gesso, early paints and some gilding. Tables were stripped most likely in the early 20th century and waxed. very bottom of base plinth was added at some point for extra height. Iron braces later. Photos also show 18th century fabric on back seam of wings intact. Some glue block replacement. Overall restabilizing with nails (20th century). Marble has suffered multiple breaks over the years but has been professionally repaired. Truly remarkable find. Ex Property of three separate corporate entities and labelled such. Recently from a private collection. New to market.
