19th c Mahogany Italian “Grand Tour” collectors cabinet with associated base. Top section modeled on Pitti Palace in Florence, with secret catches in bricks to open, with multi drawer interior, additional hidden compartments within grotesque face pulls. Papal heraldry on one crest and mythological figures on supports minor losses and cracks associated with age. Sold with turn of the century correspondence from previous owners attempting to identify provenance –upper section might possibly be of an earlier date and/or reuse of earlier elements.
