A Lifesize Late 19th Century to Early 20th Century Plaster and Composition Cast from the Vatican Original of Apoxyomenos, The Scraping Athlete. Originally found in Trastevere in 1849 and installed in the Museo Pio-Clementino in Rome, this Roman copy of the Greek original by Lysippos is considered one of the most beautiful male sculpture of antiquity. Ours being a cast of the Vatican marble. Provenance: Used as a prop in the 1941 American film by Orson Welles, “Citizen Kane”
